The Full Story
About
In 2024 Xplore Roadbooks was born from a desire to ensure other trail riders in the SW of the UK could easily access Roadbook Rally events, without travelling the breadth of the country. Tim Redman is the owner and face of Xplore Roadbooks. You are highly likely to deal with Tim when booking or attending an event.

Mission
To bring Dakar to the south west. Simply, this means giving trail riders access to organised navigation events across primarily Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Working with third parties we will also be offering events in areas such as the Cotswolds and Wales.
Vision
Provide training and events for riders to get a taste of roadbooks, before venturing further afield with national events, or even internationally. Our goal is to help those who want the help to succeed in becoming successful at navigation.

Collaboration
Xplore Roadbooks is only possible in part due to the close collaboration with The Roadbook Project. The team there provide and deliver digital roadbooks that are available online to ride anytime. Working closely with them means that Xplore Roadbooks are able to offer events with live scoring and location information.

Accessibility
Taking in part in any Xplore events is easy and simple for all comers. Moving into the digital era for roadbook creation allows the organisers to make subtle or important changes to the roadbook minutes before the start. It also allows the riders to ride at a relatively cheap cost.
To take part in any event the rider simply needs an Android device mounted somewhere on the bike where they can see it whilst riding. Most of our regular customers use a Samsung Active Tab 2 or 3, where as others use more committed tech such as a DMD device. For those who really enjoy it, they commit to purchasing a bluetooth controller which enables them to scroll the roadbook without removing their hands from the handlebars.
Please speak to Tim for some more advice on the above points.
