What is the SW Super 8?

Our summer series, known as the SW Super8, incorporates eight digital roadbooks across four counties in the southwest.  The roadbooks will be split into four easy to navigate routes and four that will test your navigational skills more.  Each county will host one easy and one moderate roadbook.

Complete any four roadbooks and receive a one off design t-shirt to show off to your mates.  If you manage to complete all eight roadbooks, you'll be sent a hoodie as a reminder of how good your summer was.

How do I take part?

The entries will open late May and the challenge will be open from the 14th June right through to September 14th, giving you three months to complete all eight routes.

Unlike other events throughout the year, this challenge sees participants starting from a venue without the Xplore team being present.  This means you can ride this challenge whatever day and time you like.  All you will need is to have the app on your Android  tablet and a sense of adventure.

What if it's not for me?

We understand this could be a bit daunting for the newcomers to the sport and for this reason we have added the option at the ticket sales to choose one of the easier roadbook options, thus allowing a rider to experience the event format without dropping time and money into something they might not enjoy.  If a rider chooses this option we will then reduce the cost of the summer series by £12.50 if they go ahead with the series.

frequently asked questions

1) yes you can ride with your mates, albeit if they've not got the app they won't qualify for a t-shirt or hoodie

2) offroad tyres would be recommended, as per a lot of our events we'd recommend a 60/40 tyre at minimum but trails are easier to ride with a more off-road dedicated tyre

3) no, you don't need an all out rally bike for this.  Just something you can take off the beaten track without fear of dropping it.  We regularly see everything from 250cc smokers through to large 1250 German adventure bikes.

4) and the old favourite, what do I need? All you need is an android tablet or android phone mounted on your bike in a position you can see it.  You'll also need a sense of adventure, along with a sense of humour for getting through some of the navigation traps.
